Access Point Channels

Due to discoveries regarding reduced power levels on Channel 16, it should not be used when implementing a channel plan for a 2.4Ghz grid. Currently, this contradicts information shown in Appendix C of the ASAP Installation Manual (AS-55106) where Channel 16 is used in the example – this example will be corrected in a future revision of the manual and an advisory against using the channel will be added.

Instead, given sufficient distance, it is better to reuse another channel that is already implemented. Systems currently using Channel 16 without issue do not need to implement any changes, however a new channel plan should be considered for any sites using Channel 16 that are experiencing frequent AP-related errors or high packet loss.

How to Change the ASAP Channel

1. Open Service Console (blue gear icon)
2. Click on "Configurations"
3. Click on the Access Point tab, expand "Set Access Point Channels", and click "Open Access Point Wizard"
4. Change the channel by typing in the new channel number in the text box with the corresponding access point you wish to change. 
5. Save the changes by pressing the play button next to the text box.
